Why I wanted a Canon 7D for Christmas, and why I didn’t get one

Ever since the Canon 7D came out, I’ve secretly been wanting to get my hands on one of them. it has a 1.6 focal length multiplier, around 8 frames pr. second, and video capability.
ISO performance as high as 12800 in a tight place (and “do-able” up until 3200), and a viewfinder that shows you everything, instead of the small one I have now.
The price here in Denmark, and that’s probably where I’ll wanna buy it for insurance reasons, is around 2 grand for the body alone, with the exchange rate at approx. 5 DKK = 1 $, which is also why I wont get one.
I’m hoping the price will go down…

During a day of quiet reflection and generally just wegging out on the sofa browsing my favourite photography sites, I came across a post about shooting portraits in a home studio.
The TS (thread starter) wanted advice about which type of studio lighting lamps she should get to get started shooting portraits at home.
That inspired me to take some portraits of my own…
