One of the greats when it comes to small hot shoe flashes, is Joe McNally.
Mr. McNally is the author of one of the best selling photography books “hot shoe diaries”. I recently ordered that book from
Amazon.co.uk and received it about a week ago.

Reading a book is one thing though, getting out there and working with the gear is what it’s all about.

As I wrote in a previous post, I’m really getting exited about using flash to make my photographs “pop” like the ones you see on strobist.com and other places.

So much so, that I’m taking a course in “on location portrait lighting with small strobes” during next month. No, it’s not the infamous McNally that’s teaching, even better, it’s Nicolai Brix.
Being coached by Denmarks main photography blogger and all around photo stud, I’m guessing it’ll be a great experience.

Mr. Brix’ courses are not easy to get by, as they are sold out at an alarmingly fast rate. They’re small sessions with 8 or 9 attendants and last up to 6 to 7 hours. The price is actually quite cheap, considering that mr. Brix supplies equipment if you need it, models, and his knowledge for around 200$.

Mr. Brix posted this video on blip.tv to show of what goes on at one of his workshops.

This Issuu print talks about what the workshop consists of.

I’m getting really excited right now…
